People who identify as lesbian, gay or bisexual are more than twice as likely as adults who are heterosexual to experience a mental health condition.1 People who are transgender are nearly four times as likely as people who are cisgender to experience a mental health condition. However, people who are LGTBQ+ face barriers in accessing behavioral health care. Just 12.5% of mental health facilities in the US offer programs specifically for patients who are LGBTQ+.2
To support more equitable access to behavioral health care for people who are LGTBQ+, Rocky Mountain Health Plans provided a community investment to Identity Insights Counseling, a behavioral health provider serving people who are LGBTQ+ in Grand Junction, Colorado. The grant has enabled the organization to train clinicians and remove barriers to care. Watch the video to see how Identity Insights Counseling is empowering the LGBTQ+ community to access behavioral health care.
