Suzy Sonnier is a dynamic leader with more than 20 years of experience advocating for healthcare, human services and education. She is especially passionate about driving results within complex systems through shared strategies, innovative thinking and focused execution.
As Vice President of Market Positioning for UnitedHealthcare Community and State, Sonnier is responsible for developing and executing growth strategies for all Medicaid markets in the Central Region. Prior to this role, Sonnier served as the Vice President of Strategy and Development for UnitedHealthcare Community and State supporting the Tennessee and Kentucky markets. Sonnier previously served as the founding Executive Director of the Baton Rouge Health District. In her role, she worked with hospital administrators, government agencies, community leaders and healthcare professionals creating a unified medical community to coordinate investment decisions, enhance care in the region, facilitate economic development and position Baton Rouge as a healthcare destination.
Sonnier previously served as Secretary of the Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services where she managed Louisiana’s child welfare, child support enforcement, disability determination services and low-income economic assistance programs. Prior to that she was Chief Operations Officer for the Louisiana Workforce Commission, Deputy Secretary for the Louisiana Department of Children and Family Services and Director of Policy for the Louisiana Department of Health. She holds a Master of Science in Public Administration from Louisiana State University and a Bachelor of Arts in Communication from the University of Louisiana at Monroe.
In 2021 Sonnier was recognized as one of the Nashville Medical News 2021 Women to Watch as well as a recipient of the 2021 Health Care Innovation Awards honorees by the Nashville Business Journal. Sonnier is a graduate of the Nashville Health Care Council 2020 Fellows program and currently serves on the Chattanooga Interagency Council on Homeless and Chattanooga FUSE Advisory Council.
Kelly Reidenbach
Vice President of Business Development
Kelly Reidenbach is Vice President of Business Development at UnitedHealthcare Community & State. In her role, Kelly leads a team focused on comprehensive growth initiatives centered on better serving the health and overall needs of members, providers, state partners, and communities. Prior to this role, Kelly served as the Vice President of Strategy and Development for UnitedHealthcare Community and State, serving as a leader in procurement strategy development, preparedness, and strategic implementation. Kelly has expertise in policy development and evaluation, growth and operations, stakeholder and provider relations, and strategy development and amplification. She has extensive experience in leading teams and functional partners to advance large-scale projects in complex organizational structures.
Prior to her work with Community & State, Kelly held leadership and senior advisory roles in government. Kelly worked with both state legislative and executive leaders to enhance the health and human services infrastructure of the state. Throughout her tenure in public service, Kelly worked across multiple agencies and departments to develop and advance priority policy initiatives. Kelly holds a B.A. in Political Science from the Ohio State University.
Bror Hultgren
West Regional Growth Officer, and Interim Chief Growth Officer
Bror Hultgren serves as chief executive officer, west region for UnitedHealthcare Community & State. In this role, he is accountable for the operations of the region’s markets including Medicaid, Long Term Care, and Dual Special Needs Plan products.
Prior to assuming this role, Bror was senior vice president, charged with leading national bid efforts as well as driving enterprise focus on the integration of physical and behavioral health for Community & State.
Previously, Bror served as central region CEO, where he provided leadership, guidance, and support for 13 markets serving over 3 million members in Medicaid, Medicaid Long Term Care, and Medicare Dual Special Needs Plan products.
Bror joined UnitedHealthcare in 2000 and has held many leadership roles including executive director of Evercare of Colorado and west region vice president for Evercare, leader of the complex care product team, and central region CEO. Bror joined UHG Ventures in 2015 to serve as chief executive officer of TeamMD, a physician practice that incorporated community-based care management and intensive primary care services in one integrated, physician-led team focused on serving older adults and individuals with complex health needs. After returning to Community & State in 2017, Bror served as interim CEO of the UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of Iowa and senior vice president of product as well as leading clinical operations for complex care products.
Bror’s career is built on a foundation of more than a decade of non-profit and governmental human services work including child protective services casework, community case management and residential care for those with serious mental illness, as well as regulatory management of Medicaid health plans.
Bror earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from Hobart College and a Master of Business Administration and a Master of Science in health administration from the University of Colorado at Denver.
Jean Benson
Central Region CEO, UnitedHealthcare Community & State
Jean Benson is the Central Region CEO for UnitedHealthcare Community & State. In this role she is responsible for empowering and supporting local market UnitedHealthcare health plans for the central region. UnitedHealthcare Community & State proudly serves 6.45 million Medicaid members in 30 states, plus Washington D.C. UnitedHealthcare is a division of UnitedHealth Group (NYSE: UNH) which is a diversified health and well-being company with a mission to help people live healthier lives and help make the health system work better for everyone.
Jean began her career at UnitedHealth Group in 2012 as Senior Vice President of Corporate Finance at Optum (a division of UnitedHealth Group) responsible for activities including strategic planning, budgeting and forecasting, pricing, actuarial services, corporate consolidations and capital.
Subsequent roles include Chief Financial Officer for UnitedHealthcare Community & State where she was responsible for the overall financial management of the business and the Chief Financial Officer of Optum, where she and her finance teams worked closely with business leaders to set strategy, drive financial accountability, improve overall cost position, support the development and execution of business plans, provide decision support and optimize the deployment of capital.
Before joining UnitedHealth Group, Jean served in a number of executive positions at companies within the financial services industry and started her career in public accounting.
Michael Cotton

Michael Cotton is the CEO for the East Region in the Medicaid business for UnitedHealthcare. Prior to this role, Jean served as Regional CFO for the C&S West Region and has held various CFO positions since joining UnitedHealth Group in 2008. Jean has been deeply engaged in rate advocacy, value-based contracting and affordability across all the markets in the West. She is a CPA with over 25 years of health care experience.

Patrick Gordon is the Chief Executive Officer for the Rocky Mountain Health Plans (RMHP) based in Colorado. As a senior executive within a nationally recognized community health plan, Patrick created and executed RMHP’s successful global budget and payment reform program for Colorado Medicaid. Patrick earned a Bachelor of History, Philosophy from Metropolitan State College of Denver and a Masters of Health Policy & Economics from the University of Colorado.

Prior to joining UnitedHealthcare, Michael was the chief executive officerof First Coast Advantage and the vice president of managed care for the University of Florida. Michael has extensive experience in health care including health systems, physician, and managed care leadership positions, and has served more than 25 years in various executive roles within health and managed care organizations.

Michael Minor serves as Chief Executive Officer of the UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of Georgia. Mike brings over 20 years of healthcare experience to his role. Prior to joining UnitedHealthcare, Mike held leadership positions with Amerigroup/Anthem, Centene, and Wellcare. He has extensive knowledge of Medicaid managed care, Medicare Dual Special Needs plans, finance, and provider contracting.
Mike focuses on building and expanding on the strong relationships UnitedHealthcare has with healthcare providers, community-based organizations, and faith-based partners across the state to ensure all Georgians have access to the supports and services needed to live healthier lives.
Mike received his undergraduate degree from the University of Louisville and his Master’s in Health Administration from Xavier University.

Krista brings over 20 years of experience in the health care industry. She joined UnitedHealth Group in 2005 and has held leadership roles across the enterprise. In her most recent experience as a Client Partner for Optum Advisory Services, Krista helped the largest clients craft and execute solutions for their challenges and opportunities, creatively combining products and consulting solutions across the portfolio of UnitedHealth Group companies. Krista has also led sales strategy and planning for the UnitedHealthcare Medicare and Retirement teams. She also led network development and population health for one of UnitedHealth Group’s innovations – Harken Health, an integrated primary care and insurance offering for the individual exchange market.
Krista has completed UnitedHealth Group’s Executive Development Program and General Manager program. In 2010 Krista was recognized with the enterprise’s Living the Mission award for her work in the community, including chairing the board of the Allina Hospice Foundation.
Krista earned both a Bachelor of Science in Business and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Trinity University (San Antonio, TX). Krista also holds a Masters of Business Administration from Kellogg, Northwestern University and a certificate of financial valuation from the London School of Economics.

Ute has also influenced behavioral health program’s integration and performance outcomes resulting in significantly improved State and provider satisfaction. Ute is a graduate of Indiana University, where she earned her BA from the School of Public and Environmental Affairs. Ute is a Health Insurance of America Associate (HIAA), as well as a Nashville Health Care Council Fellow. She also supports a number of animal rescue organizations. Ute and her husband “Skip” live in Nashville, TN with their two German Shepherds, Cali and Denzel.
